The Laikipia Highlands Games- Sports for Peace

The Laikipia Highlands games was born in 2008 as joint venture of the Gallmann Memorial Foundation (GMF) and the Great Rift Valley Trust is an annual sporting initiative aimed at using the fundamental values of sport in fostering good will, build relations, bridge divisions, and harness the natural competitive spirit of youth and the recognized high potential of Kenya Highlands athletes, to engage in peaceful competitions that put their fitness to test, at the same time offering unique opportunities to emerging new athletes.

SAX 10 to 4 Mountain Bike Challenge

The 10 to 4 now in its 12th year is Kenya's premier Mountain Biking experience. The event is held over two consecutive days with routes designed to challenge the most ardent mountain bikers, yet also provide pleasurable options suitable for beginners, family riders and children.

The 10 to 4 raises funds for the Mount Kenya Trust with the specific objective of planting some 8 million trees over a period of eight to ten years on more than 2000 reclaimed hectares of Mount Kenya forest. Mount Kenya Trust's other conservation projects will also benefit.

The Safaricom Marathon- A challenge in the Wild

Every year, top athletes, fitness enthusiasts as well as spectators come together at the Lewa Wildlife  Conservancy to participate in what some have declared as one of the toughest races on earth. However, runners of all abilities take part, from fun runners, walkers and amateurs, to professionals like Paul Tergat the Kenyan international and former world record holder.

The marathon is a unique fundraising event that offers an unparalleled experience and has raised over three million dollars since its inception. The funds have been directed to conservation and development efforts in and around Lewa.

3 Peaks, 3 Weeks

Travel to the East Africa Rift Valley to tackle three of the continents highest peaks.  Climb Africa’s second highest peak, Mt Kenya, and experience the beauty of Laikipia, and support women entrepreneurs and local girls.

Days on the trail traverse through lush montane forests, moss-covered moorland and alpine desert. Between climbs you will spend rest days with the organizations and local communities you support at the base of each peak. 

Peaks Foundation distributes funds to local women entrepreneurs, community conservation projects and provides scholarships for girls to attend school in Kenya.
